MINISTER JOHN ROSSING

John Rossing has been the pastor of Christ the King Lutheran Church since 1994, and is the third pastor since the congregation was chartered in 1983. He previously served churches in Priddy and Comanche, Texas, and Lilburn and Doraville, GA.
Pastor Rossing is a graduate of St. Olaf College and Luther Theological Seminary, and received his PhD in the history of Christianity from Emory University.
He is the author of two books of sermons as well as articles in such publications as Currents in Theology and Mission, Mind and Nature, Theology Today, Preaching Magazine, and The Encyclopedia of Religious Controversies in the United States. He has written about preaching, biblical interpretation, Hispanic American theology, religion in America, and banjo music.
He is a member of the board of directors of Dalton Organization of Churches United for People, and is the president of EarthCare, a Christian environmental service and awareness organization in Chattanooga. He chairs the Budget and Finance Committee of the Southeastern Synod, and is past chair of the synod assembly elections committee and reference and council committee. He also serves as the dean of the Chattanooga area deanery of ELCA pastors.
Pastor Rossing is married and the father of twin daughters who are both ELCA pastors. He enjoys gardening, backpacking, canoeing and kayaking, and playing trumpet, piano, and guitar.
